About the College

The College of Science and Engineering at ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ is a community of educators and researchers that thrive on adventure—we fly drones, survey landscapes, prototype biodegradable plastics, forge new frontiers in cancer research, and wade through rivers to study ecology and the health of freshwater mussels. We are the college of life-changers: future policymakers, government and non-profit leaders determined to solve broad societal problems, alongside math, electronic engineering, chemistry, and physics experts creating next-generation technology solutions. Center for Biomedical Sciences

¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ proudly announces the launch of the Center for Biomedical Sciences, a transformative academic and research initiative dedicated to advancing the understanding of human health, disease, and medical innovation. Rooted in a commitment to excellence in education, research, and service, the Center serves as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration among students, faculty, and professionals in the biomedical and health sciences.

The Center for Biomedical Sciences is designed to support cutting-edge research, foster academic exploration, and prepare students for successful careers in medicine, biomedical research, public health, and the biotechnology industry. Through state-of-the-art laboratories, faculty-mentored research programs, and partnerships with leading medical and academic institutions, the Center will drive discoveries and partnerships that contribute to improving human health at regional, national, and global levels.

By uniting expertise from biology, chemistry, health sciences, and related fields, the Center will create new pathways for innovation and hands-on learning—empowering the next generation of scientists, clinicians, and health professionals to make meaningful impacts in their communities and beyond.

Center for Relativity and Cosmology

The Center for Relativity and Cosmology at ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ was established as an interdepartmental research hub in 2024. Its mission is to explore fundamental questions about the universe, focusing on areas such as general relativity, cosmology, quantum field theory, and astrophysics.

The Center's research encompasses topics like relativistic jets from supermassive black holes, the nature of dark matter, and the interaction between quantum matter and gravity. Current projects include force-free electrodynamics, general relativistic magnetohydrodynamics, large-scale structure formation in flavor-mixed inelastic dark matter, and quantum field theory in non-smooth spacetimes.

Beyond research, the Center actively engages the University community through seminars and lectures. Notable events have included discussions on dark matter and the blending of music with physics to illustrate complex concepts.

The College of Science and  Engineering hosts a 1-day conference showcasing undergraduate and graduate research within our college each April. This conference features presentations and posters by undergraduate and graduate students in our college. All TROY students are invited to attend to see what other students are doing in research.

The ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ Center for Materials and Manufacturing Sciences, home of the new College of Engineering and Science, houses state of the art research labs funded by the National Institute for Standards and Technology and the National Science Foundation for the purposes of research in polymer chemistry. 

CMMS is committed to fostering multidisciplinary research in eco-friendly polymer recycling, packaging, electronics, optoelectronics, energy harvesting, flexible technologies and biomedical sensors. By leveraging innovation and collaboration, the Center aims to empower the Wiregrass region with transformative knowledge and solutions that enhance economic development, environmental sustainability and advancements in healthcare technologies.

New Electronics and Electrical Engineering Program at TROY prepares students for high-tech careers

¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ's new degree program, the Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (BSEEE), provides a cutting-edge curriculum that integrates theory, hands-on learning and industry-driven innovation. Approved by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education in March , the program is designed to equip students with the skills and expertise needed to excel in electronics, semiconductors, automation, telecommunications, optoelectronics and emerging electronic technologies.
